Designed as a custom above-garage guest house overlooking the Deschutes River near Terrebonne, Oregon, this project was created as a private retreat for entertaining, relaxing, and hosting family and friends. While separate from the main residence, the guest house was thoughtfully designed to feel like a natural extension of the home, blending clean architectural lines with warm finishes and expansive views of Central Oregon’s dramatic landscape.

The spacious upper-level living area opens directly onto a covered balcony, creating a seamless indoor-outdoor space perfect for morning coffee, evening gatherings, or accommodating overnight guests. Whether used as a guest suite, entertaining space, or flexible living area, the design maximizes comfort, functionality, and year-round enjoyment.

Originally envisioned as a place to gather with friends, watch the game, and play pool, the finished guest house also provides comfortable accommodations for overnight visitors. As a custom design-build project by Sierra James Construction, it showcases how an above-garage guest house can add flexible living space while complementing the home’s architecture and taking full advantage of the property’s spectacular wildlife views.
