The Sun Lava Trail project is a story of resilience, collaboration, and thoughtful design.

What began as a devastating house fire became an opportunity to build something entirely new. With both Disaster Restoration and Design-Build under one roof, Sierra James Construction guided the homeowners from loss to rebuild, taking the home down to the foundation and expanding it to create a custom multigenerational retreat in the heart of Sunriver.

Our on-staff architect, Ian Burgess, collaborated closely with the homeowners to design a layout that balances generous gathering spaces with quieter retreats, thoughtfully serving multiple generations while adhering to Sunriver’s architectural guidelines.

The vaulted great room is the heart of the home, anchored by a striking corner fireplace clad in natural stone. Expansive windows frame the surrounding pines, filling the space with natural light and strengthening the connection between indoors and out. Designed for hosting, the kitchen features a generous island with ample seating, warm wood cabinetry, and clean-lined detailing that create a timeless Northwest aesthetic that’s elevated yet relaxed.

Interior design by Fishhouse Design Studio adds depth and cohesion throughout the home. Soft, organic finishes and natural wood tones complement the home’s thoughtfully designed architecture, creating a sense of warmth and cohesion.

What began as tragedy has become a home built for memory-making. A gathering place for generations.
